I found the best iced tea invention ever last summer in Canada. It is a plastic container that brews up to 18 oz. of tea. Then when you set the container on a glass of ice, the tea drains into the glass. The one I have is called Brew-T ( http://www.brewts.com/thebrewt ) and I had to order mine on the internet since no one had them in stock. So, this is not a sweet tea recipe, but I can now use any kind of tea bag to make my tea. English Breakfast for mornings when it is too hot to drink coffee and Sleepytime for bedtime. I can make lemon tea or Constant Comment or... You get the idea.

And by the way, you guys sound like a fun family!

Six tea bags in a teapot of hot water any size.
Let sit in the water for at least 5 minutes.
Mix 3/4 of a cup of sugar into water until sugar desolves.
Put tea mixture in a 2 quart pitcher and sugar mixture into pitcher.
Add water to the top.
Pour over ice in a tall glass.

You may need to increase or decrease sugar to taste.

We are big tea drinkers but most Texans are :)

Tell the husband he has me driving down the road laughing!
Here is how I make iced tea. Take a small pan (1-2 quart) and fill half full with cold water and add 2 family size tea bags. Bring to a boil and remove from heat and cover with a lid. It will be bitter if you actually let it stay on the stove. Make sure you let it set for at least 5 minutes (for increased caffeine). I use 10 small sweet 'n low packs for a gallon of tea but some of my kids use 1 1/2 or 2 cups of sugar in theirs. I will refrigerate over night only one day. After that, the taste is dramatically different (bad) and I throw out what is left.

I like SUN TEA... take 5-6 of your favorite tea bags throw them into a big tea glass jug. Put out on the deck in the sun in the am when you come home in the evening sugar and ice down. I always have a big jug or two going through the summer.

I sometimes make mint tea if I can pick enough fresh mint from the garden.

Here is my iced tea "recipe" - if you can call it that.

I use a 1 gallon jug and Lipton Cold Brew tea bags.

I run my hot water until it is fully hot - I have kids so we keep the water slightly below 120 degrees. Fill the jug about 1/4 way with the hot water. Put in 4 tea bags and let sit for 30 min to an hour. Remove the tea bags and add 1 1/2 cup sugar; stir until sugar is dissolved. Fill up the rest of the gallon with cold water and stir until mixed.

Whenever I make tea, it rarely lasts through the night. When there is tea in the fridge then that is what everyone is drinking.
